We were unfortunate to lose ( as per all the games we lost ) . It was a very well played game from both sides, one that produced another fine display from the SLK lads.

YV United were clearly way out of our league. It was a case of David against 2 Goliaths this time round. Getting poked from the front and the back ain't a good feeling ( you can ask quek, he constantly engages in these... ) , and soon you would succumb to the pressure and come....apart.

YV had a hell lot of chances during the course of the game, only to find themselves firing blanks against the solid defence and the safe keeping of stand-in keeper Joey. The first half ended goalless, which boosted the confidence of the SLK lads. Unfortunately, SLK conceded 2 goals within 5 mins shortly after the 2nd half resumed which clearly dented the confidence of the lads.

But the lads simply won't allow YV to win without putting up a fight. After some good play from Joshua he made a pass towards Auggy, who had 3 options- 1) Pass to the unnmarked Quek calling for the ball down the left wing, 2) Eat the ball or 3) Just shoot. As Auggy was around 35m away from goal, most people would have thought that Auggy would eat the ball so that they would replace it with the Roteiro ( which was much easier to strike ). However, he chose to take a wild shot at goal. The opposing goalkeeper was uncertain of whether he should pretend to make an attempt to save the shot ( since it was going in ) , but by the time he figured out what to do, he had to pick the ball out from the net.

The lads were fired up. We tried to go for the equaliser, but unfortunately we were defending in numbers as YV went in search for the killer 3rd goal.

Losing 2-1 to the top team in the league is actually considered a good result for SLK. But the lack of players to call upon clearly affected us as we lacked the extra fresh legs to challenge the vast army of YV players. It was commented by Gaffer during post-match that it is time to go in search for commited and technically-gifted players to cover up for the lack of numbers every game. If players are not commited to turn up for games, i see no reason why we should reject the words of Gaffer's.

Work hard and train hard. Til Sunday we shall meet.
